SW Florida based artist, Lorrie Bennett, is a self-taught, freelance painter, mixed media artist, illustrator, art teacher, and graphic designer who has always known she was an artist. And others throughout her life recognized it, too. Even though her earlier career was not in a creative field, creativity always found its way back in. Eventually, after many, many years in the medical field, she finally decided it was time to spend her life doing what it was she had always dreamed of.

Lorrie often explores an intuitive interpretation of style, color, materials, and inspiration. All things nature fills her deep in her soul and will often find it's way to her canvas of choice, whether in the form of botanicals or in the majestic beauty of a feathered friend or wild beast. She is always experimenting with materials. Ephemeral and discarded materials can also be found in her art works, many over a hundred years old. Creating is a journey of experimenting and exploration for her.

Lorrie has been blessed to have her artwork reside in homes and businesses everywhere, as well as numerous publications including two adult coloring books: Inkspirations: Fruit of the Spirit and Inkspirations: Fruit of the Spirit for Moms. She has had the opportunity to illustrate childrens' books and her art was also chosen for the cover of The Beauty of Zentangle, which included being one of the 137 recognized tangle artists worldwide that can be found in this book. Recently, in 2018, she received the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center’s Choice Award for Exhibition: X juried show, which was a great honor.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
